Market outlook
Rising Outlook 7/10
Recent tracked raw NM sales show meaningful upward movement versus earlier lows, and Blackbeard remains a top-tier character with broad franchise demand. As sealed OP-09 supply is opened and collector attention shifts toward premium character alt arts, well-centered clean copies can continue to firm up.
Next months. Likely to remain choppy but firm, with clean raw copies holding in the low-to-mid teens and near-mint graded examples maintaining a premium.
Long term. Over 1-3 years, this card should gradually appreciate if One Piece TCG remains healthy and OP-09 sealed product becomes scarcer, though gains are likely steadier than explosive.
History
Marshall D. Teach, also known as Blackbeard, is one of the central antagonists in One Piece and one of the Four Emperors. He is the captain of the Blackbeard Pirates, a major pirate crew in the world of One Piece, and is infamous for his ruthless ambition, opportunism, and unique ability to wield two Devil Fruit powers. In the trading card game, his cards are consistently among the most sought-after because of his popularity in the franchise, his role as a top-tier villain, and his connection to premium chase-rarity printings.
This card first appeared in Japanese in the One Piece Card Game set 'Emperors in the New World' (OP-09), released in Japan on December 13, 2024. The English version released with the English OP-09 release in December 2024.
- OP09-093 is a major Blackbeard support character card with 12000 power, 10 cost, and Blocker/Special attributes in the One Piece Card Game.
- The alternate art version is substantially more desirable than the regular SR version and is often tracked separately in market data.
- The manga-rare, wanted poster, and alternate-art treatments of this character all command very different price tiers, making this one of the more watched Blackbeard cards in OP-09.

- Blackbeard is one of the most popular villains in One Piece, which boosts collector demand.
- Chase-variant distribution and opening volume create fewer desirable copies than regular hits.
- Competition from manga rare and wanted poster versions concentrates premium attention elsewhere, but also makes this alt art a lower-cost entry point for collectors.
Collector notes
Condition. Check for edge whitening, corner wear, surface scratches, print lines, centering issues, and foil scuffing. For alt art cards, surface clarity and clean corners matter a lot, since even light handling marks can reduce grade potential. Also inspect the back for whitening and any roller marks from packaging.
Storage. Keep in a penny sleeve and rigid top loader or card saver for raw storage, or a fitted graded slab if already authenticated. Store away from sunlight, humidity, and temperature swings. For higher-value copies, use archival sleeves and a binder only if the binder is side-loading, acid-free, and not overfilled.
Authenticity. Verify exact card text, set code OP09-093, print quality, foil pattern, and the alternate-art image match official references. Counterfeits may show dull foiling, off-color black borders, incorrect font weight, or inconsistent text spacing. Compare the back coloration and border sharpness against a known authentic One Piece card. For valuable copies, third-party grading or reputable seller verification is recommended.
