Market outlook

Stable Outlook 4/10

Consistent low pricing from abundant supply despite Deadpool fandom; recent sales show steady $2-20 graded range.

Next months. Stable $2-25 for most grades next 3-6 months

Long term. Stable to slight rise if Deadpool hype continues, but commons unlikely to surge 1-3 years

History

Deadpool, created by Fabian Nicieza and Joe Madureira, is Wade Wilson, a mercenary enhanced with a healing factor via Weapon X program, making him virtually unkillable with a twisted sense of humor and fourth-wall breaking; first appeared in 1991 New Mutants #98, gained prominence in X-Force, significant as anti-hero bridging Marvel universes.

January 1, 1993, in the SkyBox Marvel X-Men Series 2 trading card set.

  • Part of Super-Villains subset in a 100-card set
  • Early trading card appearance boosting Deadpool's 90s popularity
  • Factory set available in serial-numbered tins to 17,500

Collector notes

Condition. Check corners for dings, edges for whitening, surface for print defects or scratches; common flaws include centering issues and gum/minor bends from 90s packs.

Storage. Use semi-rigid top loaders or magnetic holders in cool, dry environment away from sunlight; sleeve raw cards in soft penny sleeves first.

Authenticity. Verify SkyBox hologo on back, check font consistency and card stock thickness; fakes rare for commons but watch eBay listings without COMC/PriceCharting scans; no known reprints.
